Climate
Climate: In the Montane Cordillera the precipitation and climate varies in the different areas due to different factors such as elevation. Yearly precipitation in areas with higher elevations will receive between 1 200 and 2 200 mm. The northern and interior areas of the Montane Cordillera will receive between 500 and 800 mm each year. Merritt (western B.C.) and Cache Creek (south western B.C.) are part of the driest rain shadows and they receive well below 500 mm of precipitation; as well as the southern Okanagan area.
The Montane Cordillera encompasses cool wet winters and warm dry summers. In the north of the Montane Cordillera the majority of the year will not reach temperatures more than zero degrees Celsius. In the forest regions the temperatures can be from anywhere from ten to seventeen degrees Celsius in the month of July. In the summer the temperature are around thirty degrees Celsius and even warmer.
