
Location


The Montane Cordillera takes up most of British Columbia and along the border of Alberta. The area consists of mostly Mountains, made from faulted sedimentary rock. There are also many plain regions in the area which contain glacial moraine or deposits from ancient lakes.




The Montane Cordillera is among the most diverse of Canada's ecozones as its ecosystems range from alpine tundra to dense conifer forests. It's differences in elevation greatly affect it's diversity and climate of the areas.
Topography: The Montane Cordillera is the most diverse ecozone in Canada. The Montane Cordillera has some of the driest, wettest, coldest, and hottest conditions anywhere in Canada. The topography of the Montane Cordillera includes alpine tundra, dense conifer forests, dry sagebrush and grasslands. Most of the region is very rugged and has many mountainous areas.
